A spoiler-light, source-labelled estimate for reaching the ending and completing the post-credits challenges with your group.

The best launch-week estimate is about 8–10 hours to see Big Walk’s ending and 15+ hours for a more complete run that includes the post-credits challenges. That is a planning range built from dated firsthand reports, not an official promise from House House.

What the early completion reports say

Two published playthroughs give useful anchors without pretending every group will move at the same speed.

Source and groupMilestoneReported time
Insider Gaming, two playersMain journey and endingAbout 8 hours
Game Informer, three playersEndingAbout 9 hours
Insider Gaming, two playersFull completion including later puzzlesAbout 15 hours

Insider Gaming says its Steam timer included menus and preparation. Game Informer describes the nine-hour figure as the time its three-person crew needed to see the end. Both reports were published around launch, so they are evidence from specific groups rather than a mature global average.

The official FAQ does not publish a fixed runtime. It does confirm that Big Walk creates different puzzle setups for two players, three players and groups of four or more. That scaling is one reason a single universal hour count would be misleading.

Why your game length can change

Group size and coordination

More players can divide tasks, carry more tools and test several ideas at once. They also create more conversation, wrong turns and coordination overhead. A capable pair may solve a room faster than a distracted group of eight, so player count alone does not predict the finish time.

How much you explore

Big Walk deliberately includes long walks, optional discoveries and space for friends to improvise. A group following visible objectives will finish sooner than one that investigates every building, tool and unusual route. That social downtime is part of the experience, not automatically wasted time.

Ending versus full completion

Seeing the ending is not the same as clearing everything. The firsthand reports describe additional post-credits puzzles and discoveries that can extend the trip well beyond the initial finale. Decide whether your group wants the ending, the remaining challenges or a spoiler-free wander before comparing times.

What the timer counts

Steam playtime includes menus, connection setup and waiting for friends. Repeated connection attempts or leaving the game open can inflate a profile’s number without adding puzzle progress. Compare milestones and group details, not just a single account timer.

How many sessions should you plan?

For most groups, schedule two to four evenings rather than one marathon. A first session can cover setup and the opening journey; later sessions leave room for harder puzzles and for the group to stop without rushing the social parts.

Choose the host carefully because the host owns the shared save. The same host needs to load that world when the group returns, so a reliable schedule matters as much as raw completion speed.

How long is Big Walk?

Use 8–10 hours to reach the ending as an early planning estimate. Budget 15+ hours if the group wants to pursue the later challenges and fuller completion.

Is the 8–10 hour estimate guaranteed?

No. It comes from two dated firsthand reports involving two- and three-player groups. Puzzle speed, exploration, group size, communication and connection time can all move the result. It is not an official promise.

Can Big Walk be finished in one sitting?

A long one-day run may be possible for a fast group, but the game is designed as a journey for a consistent group across multiple sessions. Planning several evenings reduces fatigue and leaves room for the unplanned conversations and discoveries that make the walk memorable.
